In early 2009, Rotary District 5340 will be sending a team of five teachers from San Diego and Imperial Valley, and a team leader, to East Africa. The trip is part of Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange program.
This program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.
The team traveling to Kenya/Uganda (District 9200) includes:
Dale Barnes – Team Leader
Kelli Flandi – Montgomery Middle School
Liza Flowers – Hilltop Middle School
Christopher Greenslate – La Costa Canyon High School
Emily Just – San Onofre School
Jessica Silva – T.L. Waggoner Elementary School
Good luck team!
You’re about to launch on a once in a lifetime adventure.
